Governing Body Information

Vision Primary Federation

In October 2022, Millhouse Primary School & Nursery formed a federation with Vange Primary School & Nursery. In September 2024, Kingswood Primary School & Nursery joined the federation and the new 'Vision Primary Federation' was formed. From this date, there is one single governing board overseeing all three schools. The governing board is comprised of 10 members, including the Executive Headteacher. In addition to this, the Heads of School are invited to all board meetings and provide strategic and operational contributions.

The Full Governing Board (FGB) has statutory responsibility for the three schools and there is a Local Advisory Board (LAB) for each school, chaired by a member of the FGB. Each LAB is made up of two governors and other members and they oversee the individual aspects and details of each school. The Federation FGB oversees the strategic development of both the federation and individual schools.

Governors and LAB members are expected to always have the best interests of all children and staff at the schools in mind. We visit the schools to carry out monitoring activities which allow us to fulfil our statutory responsibilities. Our expectation is that every governor and/or member visits the school once a term to do this. Some governors have additional monitoring responsibilities such as reporting on safeguarding or Special Educational Needs.

New governors receive induction training and a programme of professional development is delivered throughout the year for all governors and LAB members. All governors have an enhanced DBS check and are vetted through the school’s safer recruitment process.

Any communication for the governing board should be addressed to the relevant governor or full governing board and sent to the school address or email.
